Family2020
My name is Steve Troxel.  I have been married to my wife Sherry for thirty-one years and our blended family continues to grow – now including thirteen grandchildren (the youngest is not in the picture)!

I have been a Christian for over 40 years, but my journey has been similar to the path taken by Moses through the desert. There were times I was very close to God and many times when I simply wandered with no apparent direction. When I asked Jesus to be my Savior, the truth seemed very clear. However, “the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth” (Matthew 13:22), came in and choked out the truth. I became very unfruitful and at times very rebellious.

In 1995 I attended a conference with about 50,000 other men. One of the speakers spoke on the following verse:

Romans 12:1
“Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God – this is your spiritual act of worship.”

It was as if God was speaking directly to me! The wandering must end!! I stood before God and said – “Here am I, use me as you see fit.” When I returned from the conference, I continued to work at my regular job while serving in various capacities in my local church. In 1996, I began sending out short devotionals via email and in 1999 I left my profession and officially formed God’s Daily Word Ministries. More details of the development of the ministry can be found on the “Ministry” page.

I entered the United States Air Force in 1980 and was sent to one school after another – it felt like I was continually in training. I eventually earned a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with my last assignment being involved in laser research. After leaving the military in 1996, I ran my own engineering consulting business and then helped manage a computer company.  Every phase of my professional life was very “successful” – but nothing was fulfilling.  I realize now that God had different plans for my life.

When I began this ministry I did not have a formal religious education; but as I continued to study, and God continued to open my eyes to His truth, as well as to the many needs throughout the world, I began to understand that everything in my life had occurred to prepare me “for such a time as this” (Esther 4:14).  I have since completed a seminary masters degree in Biblical Studies and worked on a University masters degree in Theology.

After hearing God call me into full time ministry, it was natural to look back and wonder if I had wasted many years of my life; was God really asking me to turn my back on more than 9 years as a full time college student?  Remembering that “in ALL things, God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28), I now see the purpose of those years.

No, I’ll probably never use laser physics in this ministry, but perhaps my extensive engineering and mathematics training instilled a sense that there must be consistency in what we believe.  For faith to be real, it must enter into every aspect of our life.  My calling in this ministry is to study God’s Word, make direct application into my life by continuing to love Him with all my heart, lead my family in the ways of the Lord, and then, communicate these truths to as many people as possible.  I believe this order is essential for anyone involved in ministry.  I will continue to communicate His truth through email devotions, devotional books, this web site, and speaking opportunities wherever God leads.

We have a unique opportunity to effectively and efficiently share God’s Word.  Please lift this ministry up in prayer as you are led.

I pray this ministry is a blessing and that God receives the glory for ALL we do!
