Two months ago I wrote about an opportunity to purchase a facility for our school project in Mathare Kenya, a very impoverished area outside of Nairobi. You were extremely supportive and the purchase is now complete – thank you so much! The new facility is right across the road from our current facility. This is important because it allows us to continue ministering to the same families and demonstrates our commitment to the entire community.
I know the facility – the one with the slanted tin roof – does not look like much, but it represents an increase in space and also gives us the ability to add space in the future by adding a second and third floor. This facility really is a blessing! However, we need to make several improvements before we can officially transition the kids to the new facility. We need to replace much of the tin, paint, repair the flooring, repair the drain lines for the toilets (our own toilets is a huge blessing!), and install some electrical lines. In all, we will need about $6000 to make the necessary improvements.
I so appreciate the way this GDW Family has supported our work in Kenya. The conditions in this particular area seem so hopeless. Without some help, I do not see how the children can survive. For about 100 kids in Mathare, we are the hands of Jesus who teach them, feed them, love them, and point the way to our Savior. We currently work with kids through the first grade but our hope is to one day teach and mentor kids all the way through the educational system.
If you are able, please consider a generous donation to this project. We really are making a difference in the lives of many families. Donations can be made through the Donate Now button or by check to the following address:
