At the end of last year we purchased a plot of land in Mathare containing a small tin building. At the beginning of this year we took a big step of faith and decided to tear down the old building and begin construction on a new facility.
This year God has allowed us to accomplish much more than I thought possible. We have completed construction on two floors of the school and have now begun on the third.
I do not intend to complete the third floor until our ministry finances become more stable. We will place a tin roof on the third floor and use this area mainly for storage and a few upper grade classrooms. As we approach the end of the year I certainly want to celebrate all that God has accomplished. We have a wonderful facility and are increasing our reputation within the community as we teach children and minister the Word of God to families. However, the building process throughout the year has left our funds absolutely depleted. I usually enter December with a good financial cushion but this year there is none.
I’m not overly concerned at this point, but I do need to make you aware of the needs. Our school has grown from 30 students in 2011 to 133 students today. This has been an amazing process to witness but the needs of the school have definitely increased. I will send out several more details in the next few weeks but please be in prayer as to how you might be able to help. We are in need of one-time donations, large and small, and many more people who will commit to make a monthly contribution.
