The response to these messages was good and all of our end of year projects were fully funded. We were even able to raise an additional $4000 to be used for the new school facility in Mathare. Thank you so much!!
In this last message of 2015 I want to let you know about our monthly budget needs as we enter the new year. As with any ministry, we depend on two main sources of funding. The first is the end of year one-time donations made in December. These donations, over and above our special end of year projects, covers about 20% of our yearly budget. Your end of year donations are very important!! The remaining portion of the budget is covered by those who make regular monthly donations and those who are led to make donations at various times during the year.
The total monthly budget for this ministry is $7500. How is this money spent? On the US side, these funds cover internet charges, web site hosting, web site maintenance and development, email services, devotional preparation and distribution, database maintenance, bookkeeping, marketing, and program oversight. On the Kenya side, these funds pay for all the expenses at our two schools to include: 16 teachers, 2 cooks, 1 guard, 1 family pastor (part time), 1 infant care giver, 1 director, morning porridge and mid day meals for 170 children 5 days a week, and rent and electricity for our current Mathare facility. I believe we are accomplishing a lot with these funds.
There are two specific ways that you can help us meet our budget needs for 2016. The first is by making an end of year donation. All funds collected now are being used toward our monthly budget needs. The second is to become a monthly donor to this ministry. We currently have about 50 people who make monthly donations by personal checks, bank checks, credit card, or Pay Pal. These donation are so encouraging and make up $2500 of the needed $7500 budget. We could definitely use more monthly donors, of any amount!
