First Quarter Report

As we come to the end of the first quarter of 2016 there is some family business I need to share. There are some who would rather I not mix the business side of ministry with the devotional side; and yet, there is something worshipful and praise worthy of seeing what God is doing. I need to give a quick update on our monthly giving and then spend more time discussing our new school project in Kenya.

The good news with our monthly budget is that we ended the year with extra funds so we are currently in good financial shape. However, monthly giving is several thousand dollars below budget so at this current pace we will run out of funds in about 4 months. If you are able, we could definitely use more monthly partners. In 2015 we purchased a piece of property across from our rented school in Mathare Kenya. By the end of the year we had full access to the property and began to draw up plans to construct a new school. The plans for the construction were approved and we began to build last month. The first step was to demolish the temporary tin-sheet facility which was on the property.

Next, a solid foundation needed to be dug.

Our permanent facility was ready to be built so the floor slabs were poured and walls were constructed.

This has been an amazing process and we are definitely praising God. However, we have run into a problem. Our plans, as well as our funds, indicated we would place a temporary tin roof over this facility until we had funds to build the next floor. I thought we might be able to do this next year. Last week I was notified that the city will not allow us to place a temporary roof over our permanent facility. They are trying hard to upgrade the overall look of the area and desire a more uniform look to the facilities. This means we need to pour a solid concrete roof which will also function as the floor of our second story. This also means I need to ask for your help much sooner than I had planned. So here goes…Help!! I need to raise about $10,000 to complete this phase of the school. This will allow us to move in and fully occupy the first floor and use the roof for things like group assembly and storage.
